Super Bowl 2014 Line Moved 5 Points in Less Than an Hour
Oddsmakers had not anticipated the gambling public backing Peyton Manning so heavily and, as such, this prompted the books to quickly move the Super Bowl 2014 betting line from Seattle -1.5 to Denver -3. As of Monday morning, the day after the Conference Championship games, WagerWeb.com featured a line of Denver -2. (be sure to bookmark the WagerWeb.com website here to prepare for Super Bowl betting)
“And we are bound to see plenty of crazy line fluctuations,” notes Gambling911.com Chief Sports Writer Don Shapiro, “especially if weather becomes a factor.”
The more cold, the more blustery the conditions we will see action start to come in heavy on Denver. There is a bit of an irony here in that Seattle played in one of the stormiest games of the 2013-2014 NFL season just last week.
“That was a rain event,” Shapiro noted. “Denver will have an added edge in the event of snow, ice and cold.”
Despite its northern location, snowfall is not a common occurrence in Seattle.
Early variables contributing to the big Super Bowl 2014 line movement seems to have everything to do with Peyton Manning, however.
“He’s the veteran. He’s been here before. And he leads a pretty good team,” notes Shapiro.
Monday’s NFL ratings have been adjusted slightly. On a neutral field, the Seahawks are actually now 2.5 points better than Denver compared to just 1.5 points better prior to Sunday’s games.
