BetOnline was offering a Nevada Handle for the 2014 Super Bowl of OVER/UNDER $102 million with the OVER listed at -150 odds. The UNDER pays $12 for every $10 bet.

Last year’s Nevada Super Bowl handle did indeed break a record with $98,936,798 million in bets placed on the big game.  Nevada’s 183 sports books realized an overall profit of $7,206,460.

There is definitely value in placing a wager on the UNDER though.  That’s because the $98.9 million in wagers broke a previous record high mark of $94.5 million placed on the Steelers-Seahawks Super Bowl in 2006.  In other words, each Super Bowl played after 2006 failed to surpass that year’s handle until 2013.

Of course you can look at it another way and say that this year’s Super Bowl once again features a team that helped break the record in 2006, that being the Seattle Seahawks.
