At the end of each Super Bowl, a bucket of Gatorade is poured upon the winning team’s head coach. This is commonly referred to as the “Gatorade Bath” or “Gatorade Shower”.
It was a tradition started back in October 28, 1985, when New York Giants player Jim Burt performed the action on Bill Parcells after being angered over the coach's treatment of him that week. Former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Dan Hampton has also taken credit for inventing the Gatorade Bath in 1984 after dunking then head coach Mike Ditka.
Nevertheless, the phenomenon truly took off in 1986 after Giants coach Parcells was once again doused with Gatorade following 17 victories that season that culminated with a Super Bowl victory.
