Sports Interaction betting analyst Frank Doyle looks at the huge range of 2009 Super Bowl Betting Props.

The Super Bowl is props paradise. Every football game has standard side bets associated with it, like winning margins, totals, lines for the halves, and what have you. But because of the volume of business on any given Sunday, sports books don't always have the time to expand on those.

Because the Super Bowl is on its own, because there are no other games in competition with it, and because players love them so, we set as many lines as we can for the Super Bowl at Sports Interaction, and this year is no different.

The first of the 2009 Super Bowl Betting Props any prop bettor should look at is winning margin. The fundamental challenge of sports betting is to decide which side of the spread you're going to pick, but how far the actual result goes either side doesn't matter. Winning margin changes that; you can still beat the number, but not by too much or else you lose. You have to get it just right.

Sports Interactionn divides up the possible winning margins into groups of five and sets prices accordingly. Of the winning margin options, Pittsburgh to win by between six and ten points is the favorite at +300. It's not hard to see why - people expect Pittsburgh to win and cover, but Arizona has won a lot of respect during the playoffs and nobody expects the Cardinals to get their clocks cleaned.

The average winning margin of the forty-two Super Bowls that have been played is fifteen points, but we haven't really seen stompings like we saw in the ‘eighties in recent years. The four Super Bowls New England have been involved in this decade were all decided by three points, for example. Personally, I'm going to take Pittsburgh by 16-20 at +800 with Sports Interaction, as I believe the Pittsburgh defense has the potential to run up the score with pick sixes. And getting eight bucks' profit on the dollar is tempting also.

Another interesting game bet Sports Interaction has on the board is highest scoring quarter. The second quarter is favorite - how many times have teams suffered second quarter blowouts in the Super Bowl? - but I'm going to go with the fourth quarter, by reason of the pick sixes I mentioned earlier. Fourth quarter - not counting any potential overtime - to be the highest scoring quarter at +250 with Sports Interaction is the pick.

As well as the straightforward game events, we also have some special markets that we're very pleased with. The line on the game is Pittsburgh -7 and the total is 46.5, but Sports Interaction has posted a number of alternative lines and totals to add variety. This is a variation on the high reward winning margin bet but without that bet's inherent danger of going through the ceiling. Sports Interaction has Pittsburgh at -1.5, -4.5, -9.5, -10.5 and -13.5, with the vig suitably adjusted for each. Pittsburgh -13.5 at +170 is my pick here.

There are a raft of other game props as well, like the first team to score ten points, and totals betting per quarter. It really is a big selection the for the last big game of the year. And if you come back tomorrow, I'll be writing about the player props available on Super Bowl XLIII, including MVP.

Sports Interaction is offering a FREE CASH BONUS of 10 percent on your initial deposit when you open an online betting account today (for example:  open an account with $500 and receive an additional $50 cash).
