Man Who Claimed to Have $700k in Gambling Debts Ordered to Pay Back Wife $10 Mil
A Manhattan judge ordered a default judgment against Steven Lalicata for failing to respond to his wife’s $1 million suit against him.
Candice Lalicata claims in her suit that Steven swindled her out of more than $700,000 saying that he owed that amount in gambling debts. Instead, her husband spent the money on strip clubs and a mistress.
A hearing will be scheduled for later this year for state Supreme Court Justice Anil Singh to determine how much Lalicata will have to pay for allegedly conning his wife out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, according to the New York Daily News.
“He was throwing $100 bills around in the Riviera” on Steinway St. in Queens, and also frequented another club called Perfections, Candice Lalicata told the Daily News.
“I would have had more respect for him if he had gone to decent strip clubs with better-looking strippers,” she said.
Candice first met Steven when he was working at a tanning salon.
The 30-year-old swept her off her feet after finding out she had a large trust fund, and doted on her young son, Noah, according to the Daily News.
