Rolling Stone Says Sorry to Sportsbooks

Rolling Stone is accepting blame (or credit if you will) for causing the online betting site - Sportsbook.com - to remove odds on the Bruce Springsteen Super Bowl half time show - more specifically, what four songs he would perform.

Rolling Stone featured an article on their website essentially confirming that Springsteen would be performing "Other" - a bet category that was different than the variations mentioned by Sportsbook.com.

From Rolling Stone:

"So somehow, Rock Daily changed the course of Super Bowl betting. Let us first apologize to all those people who placed a bet on the winning selection before our blog post. For what it's worth, you were betting a maximum $50 to win $17, so it's not like you had thousands of dollars invested there. To all those who bet on a losing Playlist option and thus we saved you $50, you're welcome. And if you had money invested in crazy prop bets like whether or not Patty Scialfa would have a wardrobe malfunction or Courteney Cox was going to dance onstage, let us remind that we're in the middle of a recession. Rock Daily will be in Tampa, Florida, for the Big Game all weekend bringing you all-access Super Bowl-and-Springsteen coverage, so stay tuned."

Sportsbook.com we're sure are actually thankful for Rolling Stone.

"Obviously we could have taken a bigger hit if this news didn't come out when it did as reported by Rolling Stone," Dave Stanley acknowledged to Gambling911.com Thursday afternoon.

The irony in all of this is that Bruce Springsteen is known to improvise a bit throughout his career.  The fact that he performed certain songs while practicing in Tampa this week doesn't necessarily mean he'll be sticking to that set.

The one guarantee is this:  It's going to be a great halftime show!
