It was the kiss seen around the world that everyone was talking about Monday – Michael Sam selected to the St. Louis Rams, then engaging in a kiss with his boyfriend on national television upon learning of the news.
Sam is officially the first openly gay player in the NFL. There was some question as to whether he would be selected in this year’s NFL Draft and he nearly wasn’t. Sam was one of the last picks.
And it has little to do with his sexuality.
Sam was widely panned for his performance at the NFL combine and there are serious concerns over whether he can make the transition from College to the pros. Critics have said he’s “too small” to play in the NFL.
But alas Sam was an incredible College player, named the Southeastern Conference Champion of the Year in 2013.
The Rams are a long shot to win the 2015 Super Bowl but rest assured, if they get in, we’ll be seeing plenty of Michael Sam boyfriend prop bets. Sam’s boyfriend is now an instant celebrity by way of being, well, Sam’s boyfriend and the first man to kiss an NFL Draft pick on the lips on live TV.
His name is Vito Cammisano.
And he comes from a long line of Midwestern Mobsters.
His father, Gerlarmo (Jerry) Cammisano, 60, spent 14 months in prison for running a Kansas City-based gambling ring.
His grandfather William (Willie the Rat) Cammisano allegedly killed people and stuffed the bodies in sewers to be eaten by rats.

There is no evidence that Cammisano has ever been involved with the Civella crime family of Kansas City like his grandfather and all reports are that Sam's significant other is a stand up guy.
