Perhaps sensing they were being outdone by Stan James and that bookmaker’s infamous defacing of a medieval wall, the king of online gambling marketing, Paddy Power, has announced they will be handing out clean urine samples to riders during the final stage of Giro d' Italia in Ireland.

Paddy was making a joke of cycling’s infamous reputation and handed out the clean urine samples as a “guarantee that nobody would be caught doping”.

iGaming.org's Daniel Allermand noted: "Paddy Power has not told us if any of the riders actually took advantage of the good offer, but we are quite sure that there are those among the riders that wish that they could have done it."

Paddy Power was condemned worldwide earlier in the year for offering odds on the paraplegic runner Oscar Pistorius murder trial while featuring advertisements asking the question “Will He Walk?”

And in case you were wondering, Paddy Power was offering a huge menu of Giro d' Italia betting odds on their website.
