What a mighty pricey salad!

$16: That’s what the Rio is charging for a salad in what is referred to as the “poker kitchen”.

$16? Really?

Lee Davy of PokerListings.com had the same reaction and that’s what initially prompted Gambling911.com to take note of this very expensive plate of greens.

A few days ago I joined the PokerNews UK Editor, Matthew Pitt, as he looked for something healthy to eat.

“$16 for a f**ing salad!” he said. Now that’s what I call respect for money.

And these are folks who are traveling from the UK where $16 is equivalent to somewhere around $8 a la the pound.

Davy brings up an interesting point: Poker players in general encompass poor money management skills.

And not surprisingly, there were poker players chomping away at the expensive rabbit food.

Okay, so greens are a hard-to-come-by commodity in the desert perhaps.  So we decided to check out a few decent restaurants on and around the Strip.

The average price of a salad in Las Vegas is a mere $8 at an upscale restaurant and $9.5 at Smith & Wollensky’s Steak House, one of the most expensive dining establishments.

The Rio poker kitchen is no Smith & Wollensky Steak House.
So we here at Gambling911.com say “Shame on the WSOP poker kitchen”.

Poker players might be better off heading to the buffet where salads are sometimes free.
