The biggest online poker room has managed to break a Guinness World record.

PokerStars.com Sunday record-breaking no-limit hold'em contest became the largest tournament in history. The tournament was PokerStars ultimate World Record Weekend promotion which drew in 35,000 participants who paid the $10+$1 buy-in to be a part of history.

A press release issued by the company pointed out that beating the record was never the problem as registration had been open for several weeks and all the seats were sold out way before the day of the event. The vast amount of incoming traffic spread itself throughout the entire poker site which hosted 250,540 poker players, occupying 33,582 poker tables which set a whole different record for the most poker players logged on at a time.

A problem ensued however as the PokerStars server nearly crashed.

Things were quickly restored to normal, leaving just a few bumps in the road on the server throughout the night.

The 1st place finisher walked off with a cool $30,000, money that can really help during these tough economic times.
