Ireland’s Rory McIlroy sat atop the leaderboard of the 2014 British Open for a second day, ahead by four and happy to have erased a history of past Friday woes.

By late evening Friday, oddsmakers had listed McIlroy as a 1-2 favorite to win the Open.

At first, it looked as if history might repeat itself in a negative way.

"Bogey at one from 80 yards so I was thinking 'that's not the best way to start' but I knew the par 5s are where you can make a score on this course," McIlroy told ESPN's Tom Rinaldi.

Meanwhile, Tiger Woods just barely made the cut after a horrible Friday.

"I got off to a terrible start again,” Woods said Friday.  “I had some opportunities to make a few birdies along the way to get back to even par. And I just never did. Just never made anything. I got myself in good position to make birdies and didn't do it."

Woods was now coming in at +25000, meaning that a $100 bet would pay out $25000 and a $10 bet would pay out $2500.
