The early odds of the South Carolina Gamecocks winning the 2014 SEC Southeast were coming in at 4-1, some good value at BetDSI.com.

BetDSI.com prognosticators note that “there is no question that the South Carolina Gamecocks offense is going to rise or fall on the arm of quarterback Dylan Thompson. He is replacing a good one in Connor Shaw but all indications are that he will do just fine. He has a top running back to hand the ball off to in Mike Davis who rushed for 1,183 yards last season. The offense should also be boosted by wide receiver Pharoh Cooper who is expected to have a much bigger role this season. The team also has junior Shaq Roland who is one of the top receivers in the SEC. The offensive line could be one of the best the team has had under Spurrier.”

As for defense, South Carolina ranked 2nd in the conference for fewest points allowed.

Special Teams sees the return of Elliott Fry, who is expected to handle both kicking and punting duties for the Gamecocks.

BetDSI.com notes that South Carolina is coming off their best three-year run in school history, having won 11 games in each of those years.  And with a favorable schedule, they suggest betting they can win 11 or more again in 2014.
