Tomas Berdych is the highest ranked player at #5 in the world and he is joined by #7 Milos Raonic and #9 Grigor Dimitrov. The field of players is also deep as there are another six players who are ranked in the top 25 in the latest world rankings. Also getting underway on Monday is the Bet-at-home Cup Kitzbuhel where Philipp Kohlschreiber is expected to be the top seed.
Here is a look at both events and tennis picks.
Citi Open
This ATP World Tour 500 event features a field of 48 players competing on the hard courts at the William H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center in Rock Creek Park. The field is led by Tomas Berdych who received a Wild Card entry into the tournament. He should get competition from Raonic and Dimitrov who are each ranked in the top ten in the world. Other players in the field just outside the top ten include Kei Nishikori who is ranked 11th, John Isner who is ranked 12th and Richard Gasquet who is ranked 14th. Also in the field are 17th ranked Kevin Anderson, 23rd ranked Gael Monfils and 25th ranked Feliciano Lopez.
“The addition of Berdych to the tournament roster alongside other top ten players Raonic and Dimitrov speaks to the incredible strength of this year’s men’s player field,” said Jeff Newman, Tournament Director. “With three elite top ten players now, fans are in for a real treat.”
Last year in this event it was Juan Martin del Potro defeating John Isner in three sets in the final. Two years ago it was Alexandr Dolgopolov winning this tournament while Radek Stepanek won it three years ago.
Bet-at-home Cup Kitzbuhel
This ATP World Tour 250 event takes place in Kitzbuhel, Austria. A field of 28 players will compete on the clay. Philipp Kohlschreiber leads the field and he should be the favorites in tennis lines at the sportsbook. He is joined in the field by Marcel Granollers, Andreas Seppi, Carlos Berlocq, Joao Sousa, Lukas Rosol, Robin Haase and Jurgen Mezer.
Tennis Picks
Take Raonic to win the Citi Open and for Haase to take the title in Austria.
