2014, 2015 NFL betting odds for the Carolina Panthers had them at 65-1 to win the Super Bowl, 5-1 to win the NFC South and OVER/UNDER 7.5 regular season wins at -115 both ways.  All odds courtesy of SportsBettingOnline.ag here.

Carolina does have a blemish coming into the 2014 regular season with what appears to be some inferior receivers including the likes of free agent pickups Jerricho Cotchery, Jason Avant, Tiquan Underwood, as well as rookie first-round pick Kelvin Benjamin.  Worse still, they also lost Steve Smith.

Likewise, the offensive line will be a concern as both Jordan Gross and Travelle Wharton have entered retirement.

Then there is starting quarterback Cam Newton, who underwent surgery to tighten the ligaments in his left ankle.  The prognosis is good, however, but he will need to take his game to the next level with all the changes this franchise has undergone in the offseason.

NFL betting used to be built mostly around teams. Bettors looked at spreads, totals, moneylines, injuries, weather and coaching matchups. Those pieces are still there, but the modern football betting board is much more player-driven than it used to be.
