Remembering Joan Rivers vs. Annie Duke: Poker Pro Mum on Twitter re Death

Doyle Brunson and other poker players have tweeted their respects for the caustic comedian extraordinaire Joan Rivers, who passed away at 81 Thursday afternoon. In the poker community, Rivers is known for appearing along side female poker pro Annie Duke in the 2009 season of “Celebrity Apprentice”, making for one of the better reality feuds on television. She also lashed out at the poker playing community, at one point suggesting they were all tax evaders. But that was just classic Joan.

One pro noticeably silent is none other than Ms. Duke, who many in the poker community now consider a pariah since her appearance on “Celebrity Apprentice”. In recent years, Duke was caught up in a scandal involving now defunct online poker room UB.com while he brother Howard Lederer allegedly ran an elaborate ponzi scheme in connection to Full Tilt Poker. Both have remained mostly under the radar but Duke had taken to Twitter just a few hours prior to Rivers passing.

The comedian died after going into cardiac arrest last week during a routine throat operation. Rivers remained in a medically induced coma since that time.
