Patriots vs. Vikings Line Up 2 Points: Adrian Peterson Indicted, Fantasy Disaster

The Patriots vs. Vikings betting was under review following news that Adrian Peterson was indicted for child abuse in Montgomery, Texas.  TMZ.com reported the news late Friday. Minnesota was a +3.5 home underdog prior to the news and at 8 pm EST, BetOnline moved the line up 2 points in favor of New England to -5.5.   The team deactivated Peterson late Friday.

Sportsbooks had pulled this game off the board Friday due to the uncertainty as to whether Peterson would be playing Sunday.  His absence will likely serve as a tremendous blow to the Vikings.  A warrent was issued for his arrest. 

Peterson's attorney released the following statement:

"Adrian Peterson has been informed that he was indicted by a grand jury in Montgomery County, Texas for Injury to a Child. The charged conduct involves using a switch to spank his son. This indictment follows Adrian’s full cooperation with authorities who have been looking into this matter. Adrian is a loving father who used his judgment as a parent to discipline his son. He used the same kind of discipline with his child that he experienced as a child growing up in east Texas. Adrian has never hidden from what happened. He has cooperated fully with authorities and voluntarily testified before the grand jury for several hours. Adrian will address the charges with the same respect and responsiveness he has brought to this inquiry from its beginning. It is important to remember that Adrian never intended to harm his son and deeply regrets the unintentional injury."

The Patriots come into this game having won 10 straight against NFC North teams but are 1-7 Against The Spread in its last 8 games on the road.

Around 75% of the betting action was on New England prior to the Peterson news.

Fantasy NFL players are likely to be rattled by the Peterson indictment.  He is among the most sought after players this year.
