No Hearing in House Subcommittee for Online Gambling Ban

Poker Players Alliance (PPA) head John Pappas confirmed late Monday that an anticipated House subcommittee hearing to discuss a ban on Web gambling has been pulled from the agenda.

The Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA) is a piece of legislation heavily backed by GOP megadonor and casino magnate Sheldon Adelson.  The measure has support on both sides of the aisle, though that support is believed to be miniscule.

Pappas tweeted:

Inside info, planned Internet #poker hearing in House Judiciary cmte has been pulled. Need to remain vigilant for other lame duck actions JP

Industry analysts warn that RAWA can still be attached to “must pass” legislation during the lame duck session.

Now that The Masters is over we're dealing with what is by most accounts a rather slow uneventful Monday.  This, however, is the silence before the storm as the NFL Draft, NBA and NHL Playoffs, the Kentucky Derby and the Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull fight are just around the corner.
