The dreaded DDoS or Distributed Denial of Service attacks may be back and affecting a number of online poker tournaments across many network sites.

Carbon Poker’s recent spate of server disruptions and disconnection issues have sparked fears of a DDOS attacker deliberately disrupting games in order to steal pots, writes Philip Conneller of CardChat.com.

A series of unexplained disruptions occurred over the weekend.

PartTimePoker.com suggests that a cheater may be attempting to dismantle the tournaments.

Alex Weldon writes:

Although representatives for Carbon have declined comment thus far, some users have allegedly received confirmation in private exchanges that this is indeed what happened, and that the site is attempting to rectify the issue.

Distributed Denial of Service attacks are defined as a malicious attempt to make a server or a network resource unavailable to users, usually by temporarily interrupting or suspending the services of a host connected to the Internet.
