81-year-old poker pro Doyle Brunson confirmed Thursday he has early stage Melanoma skin cancer and is set to undergo surgery on his head to have it removed.  It is his 3rd Melanoma discovered in so many years.

Brunson, while not worried about going under the knife, tweeted that this will be his 12th major operation.

Simple or not, this will be my 12th major operation. Gonna play poker now because i always heard u get lucky right before u die.#justsaying

Melanoma is less common than other skin cancers. However, it is much more dangerous if it is not found in the early stages. It causes the majority (75%) of deaths related to skin cancer.

In 1962 Brunson was diagnosed with incurable cancer on his neck but, following an operation, no traces of the cancer were ever discovered again.

Brunson is widely rumored to be playing in the upcoming Winning Millions online poker tournament at Americas Cardroom on February 22, though his participation has yet to be confirmed by Gambling911.com.
