A sports handicapper charged with bilking a Wisconsin man out of $25 million and allegedly threatening him with bodily harm has been ordered into drug rehab after failing four drug tests and skipping on four others.

The so-called “Sports Betting Consultant to the Stars’ Adam Meyer, a Fort Lauderdale resident, is charged with six felonies, including one that could result in a life sentence.  The victim of the alleged scam has since been identified as Gary Sadoff, owner of Badger Liquor Co. Inc.

U.S. Magistrate Judge William Duffin advised Meyer he could easily revoke his $1 million bail and order him to jail should the sports tout fail to attend the treatment program and abide by all rules.

According to the indictment, Meyer then went on to claim he owed a debt to a ruthless bookie named Kent Wong and that Wong mistook the Wisconsin man for Meyer’s partner.

That ruthless bookie turned out to be Meyer himself.  The indictment alleges that Meyer would call Sadoff and threaten him into making further payments.

It is also alleged that an associate of Meyer pulled a gun on the victim and demanded additional funds.  Sadoff sent off another $9.8 million following that incident, which allegedly took place at a meeting called by Meyer.

While out on bail, Meyer was permitted to continue running his tout service Real Money Sports Inc.

State court records also revealed that Meyer is facing two counts of drug possession with intent to sell.

Each of the wire fraud counts and the extortion count carries a sentence of 20 years in prison.
