Some will view these odds as a steal with the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots now coming in at 10-1 odds of winning Super Bowl 50.
The newly calculated price takes into consideration starting quarterback Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension, which was handed down by the National Football League late Monday afternoon.
Additionally the Patriots were fined $1 million – the largest fine ever handed down to a single sports team - and took away two draft picks as punishment for deflating footballs used in the AFC title game versus Indianapolis.
"Each player, no matter how accomplished and otherwise respected, has an obligation to comply with the rules and must be held accountable for his actions when those rules are violated and the public's confidence in the game is called into question," NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent wrote to Brady.
Future bettors may considering hedging their wagers at such an enticing price as Tom Brady’s agent, Don Yee, was quick to announce his client would appeal the NFL decision.
"The discipline is ridiculous and has no legitimate basis,” Yee proclaimed. "And if the hearing officer is completely independent and neutral, I am very confident the Wells Report will be exposed as an incredibly frail exercise in fact-finding and logic.”
Should Brady’s suspension remain in place, New England will likely be fighting an uphill battle the first half of the 2015 regular season. They’ll be hosting Pittsburgh in Week 1 with road games in both Buffalo and Dallas. Another game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is winnable with or without Brady.
