A review of the SBG Global 2009 NCAA Tournament odds show some heavy action going towards teams that are not necessarily top seeds.  This information could be useful for your 2009 NCAA Tournament brackets (most deadlines are Wednesday, some are Thursday morning).

North Carolina is still the favorite to win the 2009 NCAA championship at +330 odds for a payout of $330 on every $100 bet at SBG Global.

Pittsburgh's odds are now shorter - down to +600.  They were previously greater than +800 and longer than that of Connecticut (at +800 odds).

Louisville would pay out $1500 for every $100 bet at SBG Global.

Memphis now pays $1300 for every $100 bet after being as long as +1500 on Monday.

UCLA and Gonzaga were both listed at +3000 odds and these were two teams widely believed capable of an upset and advancing deep into the tournament.

Now let's take a look at what teams are getting the most action.

This might come as quite a surprise but Western Kentucky was one of the most bet on games early heading into the 2009 NCAA Tournament.  Better get the brackets out now and start doing some erasing!  75 percent of the action was going Western Kentucky's way on the spread and the money line had around 95 percent of the action.  They play Illinois, a team that is not getting much love from oddsmakers despite the decent seeding.

Virginia Commonwealth (VCU) is also getting some heavy betting action early on.   They play UCLA, which many believe was likely to advance deep but others say VCU could win in the first round.  This is probably one of the most difficult matchups to ponder for one's NCAA tournament brackets.  One thing to keep in mind is that VCU is a +9 underdog and sports bettors aren't buying that line.  So even though UCLA may win outright, the betting public does not believe they will cover.  VCU is getting 80 percent of the action on the money line however.

As one might expect, Florida State is getting most of the action versus Wisconsin as the -2 ½ favorite.  They were getting more than 85 percent of the spread action though there was a near split on action with the money line here.

A lot of people are saying that Mississippi State can beat Washington.  That's what the trends tell us and the oddsmakers are favoring this scenario as well.  Nevertheless, Washington is among those teams getting the most action at some of the "sharp" shops on the spread of -4 ½.  Recreational betting establishments tended to have even action on this game with both the spread and the moneyline.   Gambling911.com has been paying very close attention to the past trends suggesting Mississippi State's potential for an upset however.

The "sharps" also appear to be on Maryland and Cleveland State.

Butler was getting decent money line action (to win outright) against LSU

Memphis is getting the most bets thus far to win the 2009 NCAA Championship as an FYI.  Again, they had odds of +1300 for a payout potential of $1300 on every $100 bet at SBG Global.
