Draft Ops Review: Daily Fantasy Sports Site Makes Deal With Barclays Center

Gambilng911.com has your Draft Ops review for those looking to potentially invest in the fast growing Daily Fantasy Sports sector or simply searching for an alternative to DraftKings or FanDuel.

This is a company that seems to have some serious ambitions after entering into a critical deal with Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in recent weeks.  They had previously signed a deal with Bellator, the Mixed Martial product.

Here’s the real stunner: Draft Ops just announced it had raised approximately $7 million as part of a “friends and family” funding round, according to Forbes.

Draft Ops is owned by the Doumani real estate family out of Las Vegas.  It’s a family that once owned the Tropicana Casino.

“We have our own resources, but we want to take it to the institutional level,” founder Ronald Doumani told LegalSportsReport.com. “This is a sexy industry, and there are a lot of people with money that want to be a part of this industry. We just want to make sure we make the right decision, and have the right partner for long-term growth. We’re very scrutinizing on who we ultimately engage with.”

Investor Activity:  We know they have deep pockets.  We know they are serious about entering into potentially lucrative deals.  Draft Ops might have an easier time with attracting investors.  Watch this space closely.  Draft Ops as of the date of this review looks like the real deal.

“Fantasy sports gaming is a booming industry and we are excited that Draft Ops will further build its business through a fully integrated alliance with the New York Islanders in Brooklyn and Barclays Center,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of Barclays Center, in the press release.

Doumani tells LegalSportsReport.com his company is all about engagement.

“We like the idea of actually engaging fans and educating fans,” Doumani said. “At Barclays, we’ll have employees at every event in the lounge, being able to answer questions and demonstrate how products work.”

Current Assessment Updated July 15, 2015 – Draft Ops seems to have the right ingredients to at some point compete with the big boys.   They are certainly engaging.  Check out their Twitter page, which is regularly updated.

DraftOps has introduced an innovative “Pick 3” contest platform in which you select just three players in a sport for a given day, with no salary cap.  Interesting concept.

We’re also launching a full suite of new games in the fall that are really catered toward casual fans,” Doumani told LSR. “We feel like the disconnect in the industry right now is that DraftKings and FanDuel are being seen as the ‘professionals’ game.’ Casual fans are taking a chance once or twice, losing their money and not returning.”
