Daily Fantasy Sports Expo Day Two Agenda Features Forbes, Fox Sports, DraftKings
Day 2 of the first ever Daily Fantasy Sports Expo in Miami Beach takes place Friday with speakers that include the likes of DraftKings, Forbes, CBS Sports and many more. Gambling911.com founder Chris Costigan will host the final round table panel.
The hot topic of discussion Thursday was Yahoo having a few widely publicized gaffes as they entered the Daily Fantasy Sports industry two weeks ago. These included an inability to detect state residency and age verification. They also would not honor guaranteed prize money as required by 2006 gambling legislation that features a carve-out for Fantasy Sports, the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
Joe Brennan, CEO of soon-to-be-launched Fast Fantasy and a long time consultant for the gaming industry, suggested during the legal panel that Yahoo appeared to have been cleaning up some early hiccups but that this type of issue “draws unnecessary scrutiny to the industry”.
Also discussed was PokerStars likely entry into the DFS sector with an active client base better than that of industry leaders DraftKings and FanDuel combined.
Once again, more scrutiny will be drawn to an industry that has multiple major league players as opposed to just one or two.
