The White House spoke candidly early Monday afternoon regarding a potential U.S. Vice President Joe Biden run for President in 2016.

White House spokesperson Josh Earnest told reporters during Monday’s daily briefing: “President Barack Obama has indicated his view that the decision that he made seven years ago now to add Joe Biden to the ticket as his running mate was the smartest decision he had ever made in politics.”

Many operatives and supporters of Biden have been pushing the Vice President to get into the race amidst lagging poll numbers and an email controversy surrounding Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.  This weekend it was reported that darling of the Democratic party, Elizabeth Warren, had met with Biden to discuss a possible endorsement.

By 2 pm EST Monday, Biden had the 3rd shortest odds of becoming the next U.S. President.  Only Democrat Hillary Clinton (favored at +140) and Republican Jeb Bush (6/1) had shorter odds.  Real estate mogul and GOP candidate Donald Trump was tied with Biden at 10-1 odds.
