The World Series of Poker Academy's Ladies Only Event, hosted by WSOP bracelet winner and star of "The Celebrity Apprentice" Annie Duke, is heading back to Las Vegas this summer. The two-day academy, which has successfully sent graduates to final tables at the World Series of Poker the past two years and saw one of its graduates win the title of Ladies World Champion in 2007, will be held June 5 - 6, 2009, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, just ahead of the $1,000 buy-in Ladies No-Limit Hold'em World Championship.

"They say success breeds more success, and there is no better example of this than our World Series of Poker Academy Ladies Only Event," noted Brandon Rosen of Post Oak Productions, the company that produces the WSOP Academy. "In just two years, our ladies only event has helped turn novices into winning tournament players and in some cases, champions."

Unrivaled in both its level of instruction and results, the WSOP Academy's Ladies Only Event debuted in 2007 and saw one of its graduates, Sally Anne Boyer, quickly capture the title of Ladies World Champion by outlasting 1,286 players and taking home $262,077. The following year another WSOP Academy graduate, Patty Till, went straight from the WSOP Academy to the final table of the Ladies World Championship, where she finished third and earned $73,637.

Most recently, WSOP Academy graduate Mary Jo Belcore-Zogman was crowned the Heartland Poker Tour's 2008 Player of the Year after winning "The Grand Series" in late September 2008. Belcore-Zogman's victory earned her $85,724, and two more deep runs in 2008 HPT events brought her total winnings to $104,429.

"The success of our grads is a testament to the level of instruction Annie Duke and all of our instructors offer our participants. We're expecting to see more WSOP Academy grads at final tables in 2009," said Rosen.

Joining Duke as instructors at the Ladies Only Event in Las Vegas are poker tells expert Joe Navarro, noted poker instructor Alex "The Insider" Outhred and many others. The world-class instructors will elevate participants' games to the next level with in-depth seminars, live hand demonstrations, interactive workshops and customized handbooks, all focusing on aspects of No-Limit Texas Hold 'em strategy, from playing position and calculating pot odds to the importance of aggression and changing gears.

Among the highlights of the Ladies Only Event will be a poker tells seminar presented by noted author and lecturer Joe Navarro, who has designed a brand new seminar focusing on female-specific non-verbal behavior. After 25 years with the FBI working in the areas of counterintelligence and counterterrorism, Navarro has become one of the foremost authorities on reading the nonverbal communications that people exhibit when they are lying. Applying his expertise to poker, Joe has revolutionized the science of detecting and interpreting tells.

Beyond just delivering the best in poker instruction, the WSOP Academy Ladies Only event will also offer a total-immersion poker experience that gives participants the opportunity to hang out and play poker with many of the biggest names in the game and compete in a private poker tournament. The winner will go on to compete for a World Series Of Poker Main Event seat at the WSOP Academy Tournament of Champions

The WSOP Academy Ladies Only Event is one of a number of groundbreaking instructional programs presented by the WSOP Academy throughout the year that feature instruction from the best players in the game, including Phil Hellmuth, Greg Raymer, Mark Seif and Annie Duke. From sessions that focus on No-Limit Texas Hold 'em to special editions like the WSOP Academy's Main Event Primer and new Cash Game Academy, the WSOP Academy offers amateur poker players of all skill levels the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn directly from the champions of the game and perhaps become champions themselves.

Tuition for each of the Ladies Only Event is $1,699.00, with a payment of only $425 required to secure a spot. The additional tuition payment owed will be billed each month for the three following months.

Space is limited at all WSOP Academy events. Additional details for all upcoming events are available at www.wsopacademy.com.
