Georgia Bulldogs -2.5

Vulnerabilities Exposed for Tide

Alabama is 3-1 straight up but 1-3 against the spread which is illustrative of their new status as a public overlay that is not as good as what is perceived. The Tide is continuing to be exposed by athletic offenses as evidenced by their ranking of 92nd in the nation against the pass. Alabama’s once stout defense ranks 62nd for points allowed. Head coach Nick Saban has whined and complained for several years about the evolution of more creative offenses and it’s now obvious as to why because he is yet to come up with a solution at shutting them down. Against a loaded and deep Georgia team those worries about the inability to shut down quality attacks are again well justified.

Is This Finally the Year?

Few programs get more love and respect for fewer results than the Georgia Bulldogs. But this year the Bulldogs have the look of a team that just might fill the role on the marquee. Georgia is 4-0 straight up and 2-2 against the spread after last week’s 48-6 home win over Southern as they failed to get the cash as a 48 point overlay. The Bulldogs have covered the spread in their other two home games so far this season. Offense is the name of the game for Georgia as they rank 15th nationally for scoring. The defense has been solid, especially against the run, and ranks 25th overall nationally.
