Draftkings, one of the leading Daily Fantasy Sports sites, is looking to fight fire with fire so to speak.

With news that the current Massachusetts Attorney General has launched an investigation into the Boston-based company, DraftKings has hired former Attorney General Martha Coakley as an adviser.

“There is little question that this industry will need to be regulated in order to protect consumers, and we intend to make our findings and recommendations public at the end of this review,” said AG Maura Healey’s spokeswoman, Cyndi Roy Gonzalez following accusations of possible insider trading at DraftKings.

Attorney Generals in three states – Massachusetts, New York and Florida – have all launched probes into FanDuel and its rival DraftKings after an employee of the later inadvertently released player percentage data not publicly accessible prior to the start of games.  He went on to win $350,000 in a FanDuel contest.

“We are seeking extensive information about the industry and have spoken with the leading companies directly as part of this review,” Gonzalez told the Boston Globe.

Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker compared DraftKings to the popular ride-hailing service offered by Uber Technologies Inc., saying it’s “one of those things that kind of came up out of nowhere”.
