U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has decided not to run for President, thus putting an end to speculation that has reached fever pitch in recent weeks.

Oddsmakers pulled odds on Biden immediately following the news.  He had the shortest odds after Hillary Clinton to become the Democratic nominee.

“I have concluded that it has closed,” he said of the window to enter the Democratic contest, speaking in a hastily called Rose Garden appearance, with President Obama by his side.

Biden spent the weekend with his family in Delaware, a final, critical gut-check moment to decide whether to launch a late-breaking entry into the Democratic race.

Clinton remained around a -125 odds favorite to become the Democratic nominee and is also a favorite to become the next U.S. President.
