San Jose, Costa Rica – He might have had a smaller than normal field to contend with, but victory was just as sweet for ‘aaronmermel’ in last Sunday’s $500,000 Guaranteed tournament.
The online poker player conquered a field of 1,532 entries to win the title and a guaranteed first place prize of $100,000 in the online poker tournament that featured a $117,000 overlay.
“As promised, we topped up the prize pool to $500,000 yet again in the second-to-last installment of our $5 Million Guaranteed promotion,” stated Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. “There’s one more $500,000 GTD Main Event on the schedule this Sunday, so if you want to follow in aaronmermel’s footsteps, this is your last chance.”
The $500,000 Guarantee is part of Americas Cardroom’s $5 Million GTD Promo, which will see a total of $5 million in guaranteed prize money spread out on the table through November 8th, all via Sunday Main Events. While aaronmermel walked away with the title, several other players scored big, including 2nd place winner NiagaraBalls who earned $57,250 and Presto136 whose 3rd place finish netted him $39,750.
The next installment of Americas Cardroom’s $5 Million GTD Promo gets underway at 5pm ET on Sunday, November 8th. While last Sunday’s overlay was significant, this Sunday could see an even smaller field contend for the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. That’s because the Sunday tournament coincides with the final table of the Punta Cana Poker Classic in the Dominican Republic.
