The Battle of Malta Final table is starting to dwindle down with just three players left.

Hendrik Koops Henrik Jacobsen and Nicolas Proust

Nicolas Proust has won around $20,000 on the live circuit to date.  The other two players have barely registered in live tournaments.  Each is guaranteed to win at least €70,200 from this tournament.

Organizers decided on Sunday to schedule the Final table for Monday as casino law in Malta dictates shutting down at 5 am.  A Final table of ten was determined too late in the evening (shortly after 10 pm) to continue through the evening.

This year's Battle of Malta became the biggest poker tournament in that EU nation's history with just over 1800 entrants.  It also broke the record for biggest standalone poker tournament in Europe.  The popular low-buy tournament will pay out €165,000 to the winner.

By 4:45 pm local time, here were your chip counts:

Hendrik Koops: 13,000,000

Uri Gilboa: 7,500,000

Henrik Jacobsen: 6,700,000

Anders Gran Kvam: 6,100,000

Carlo van Ravenswoud: 3,500,000

Paolo Palmieri: 2,900,000

Nicolas Proust: 2,300,000

Dimitar Alexandrov: 2,300,000

Anne Meri became the first female poker player to make a Battle of Malta Final table but was short stacked coming in and busted out early.

“At the moment, I’m disappointed, also because I just missed my flight, but I’m proud to be the last woman standing and the first to reach the final table,” Meri said.

She can use some of her €10,450 winnings flying back to her home in Norway first class.

Way to go Anne.
