The website in question is called Turner Sports Network and has the web address of www.tsninsiders.com .

On the home page of the website, in the upper left-hand corner, are the letters "TSN" and the phrase "Turner Sports Network."

The website is for a sports handicapping service that advertises itself on the home page as the "Home of the $49 Guaranteed Play!" while also declaring that the company "represents accuracy, honesty and integrity."

The website also displays testimonials from purported satisfied customers and lists a toll-free telephone number to call to sign up for the service.

Although the website never actually states that it is either owned or operated by Turner Sports or has any connection to or affiliation with that company, the intent seems to be an obvious attempt to confuse customers and suggest that there is a connection between the website and Turner Sports.

Turner Sports--a division of the Turner Broadcasting System, which is a subsidiary of media conglomerate Time Warner--produces sports broadcasts on Turner cable television channels TBS, TNT and TruTV.

A spokesman for Atlanta-based Turner Sports, who didn't want to be quoted by name, tells Gambling 911 exclusively that Turner Sports has no connection whatsoever to the sports handicapping website and is attempting to have the website shut down.

So what does the website have to say about all this?

Gambling 911, posing as a potential customer, contacted the sports handicapping service via the email listed on its website and asked if the service has any connection to Turner Sports.

An email response from someone identifying himself or herself as "J. Anthony" declared: "Thank-you for bringing this to our attention. Rest assured, we have no connection or affiliation with Turner Sports or Turner Broadcasting System. Turner Sports, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, is an industry leader in televised and online sports programming. We, Turner Sports Network, are an industry leader in supplying sports bettors with real information. Our names sound alike, but in essence, we are worlds apart. Let me clarify your confusion. Just to be clear, Turner is a very common surname. The media mogul and founder of the cable network, Robert Edward 'Ted' Turner III, is not the only person who happens to bear the surname Turner. There are millions of businesss that are formed and registered with the surname Turner. In closing, there is NO connection, affiliation or relationship with the media mogul and founder of Turner Sports, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Ted Turner. Now that I have clarified your clouded thinking and put your mind at ease, please feel free to call us directly on our toll-free number."
