Brie Larson had odds of winning an Academy Award in 2016 for her role in “Room” set at -2000. You would need to bet $200 to win $10. She’s a lock and an easy $10 but still a difficult pill to swallow if you ask us.
In “Room” Larson plays a woman held captive in a small space with her young child. Eventually both are released whereby her five-year-old boy gets to experience the real world for the very first time in his life.
Larson says she drew from her childhood to portray Joy, having moved to LA with her sister and newly single mother. The three resided in a cramped studio apartment.
"We lived in just a studio apartment with just a room and a bed that came out of the wall, and my mom couldn't afford even a Happy Meal. We ate Top Ramen," Larson recalled in an interview for the ABC News special, "Journey to the Oscars" hosted by ABC News' Robin Roberts. "I had no toys, and I had like two shirts, a pair of jeans and that was it. But I had my Mom to myself and I remember it being the coolest period of time. I loved it. I really loved it."
