In 2015 TwinSpires ceased taking bets on the Kentucky Derby from residents of Texas, the 2nd most populated state in the US following a year’s long legal battle.   Good news though as BetUS does accept bets from Texas residents and offers a generous welcome bonus (max bonus $2500).

Bookmaker provides a home to those looking to place bets on the Kentucky Derby and all other horse races from Texas with the biggest bonuses in the industry.

Texas is home to some 396,522 disenfranchised Vietnamese residents, most of whom live in the Houston area, a large proportion of which bet sports.

Gambling911.co reader Thanh Nguyen, an avid horse bettor, finds it inconvenient to place bets at Texas tracks and prefers doing so from the comfort of his own home during the Derby in particular.

“I look forward each year to this day betting the Kentucky Derby but I cannot from this state, the site Twinspires it shuts me down,” says Nguyen.

Texas got a last minute reprieve to continue allowing horse racing back in February though the threat continues to loom.

“After an entire summer with the cloud of a shutdown hanging over the industry’s head, I am bewildered that certain members of the Texas Senate appear to have blocked the release of essential funds to the Texas Racing Commission,” wrote Andrea B. Young, Sam Houston Race Park president, last summer. “We thank our friends in the Legislature and other branches of government who have fought to protect the Texas racing industry and the hardworking individuals it employs.”

While Twinspires could open back up for Texas residents, they do not offer competitive rates on losses back like those offered by BetUS.
