LAS VEGAS - The World Series of Poker Academy is giving those searching for fame and fortune at the 2009 World Series of Poker plenty of chances to improve their odds before hitting the tables this summer. Starting May 30 and up to the WSOP Main Event, the WSOP Academy will host four distinct academy events at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, with instruction from the biggest names in the game including Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke, Phil Gordon, Greg Raymer, Mark Seif and many more of today's top poker pros.
"Whether you're looking to improve your cash game skills, become a better tournament player or take on the massive field in the Main Event, the WSOP Academy has an event designed for you this summer in Las Vegas," said Brandon Rosen of Post Oak Productions, the company that produces the WSOP Academy. Cash Game Academy

At each event, the WSOP Academy's pro instructors will elevate participants' games to the next level with in-depth seminars, live hand demonstrations, interactive workshops and customized handbooks covering the topics specific to each academy.
At the Cash Game Academy instructors will address topics such as the transition from tournament play to cash game play, bankroll management and sophisticated plays and strategies specific to cash game play. The event will also offer video analysis of cash game play, with instructors dissecting hands and situations and discuss alternative lines of play.
At both the Ladies Only Event and Tournament Academy, instructors will cover all aspects of No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em tournament strategy, from playing position and calculating pot odds to the importance of aggression and changing gears. Finally at the Main Event Primer, the focus will be on preparing players for the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event and tackling advance concepts of No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em tournament strategy, including the advanced math of poker, advanced tournament stage strategy, pre-flop and post-flop strategy and heads-up strategy.
Among the highlights at all four events will be a poker tells seminar presented by noted author and lecturer Joe Navarro. After 25 years with the FBI working in the areas of counterintelligence and counterterrorism, Navarro has become one of the foremost authorities on reading the nonverbal communications that people exhibit when they are lying. Applying his expertise to poker, Joe has revolutionized the science of detecting and interpreting tells.
Beyond just delivering the best in poker instruction, the WSOP Academy events also offer a total-immersion poker experience that gives participants the opportunity to hang out and play poker with many of the biggest names in the game and compete in private poker tournaments. The winners from each event will go on to compete for a $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event seat at the WSOP Academy Tournament of Champions.
