Stradivari had 12-1 payout odds of winning the 2016 Preakness Stakes Saturday.  A win would pay out $120 for every $10 bet.

Stradivari won his last two races by a combined 25 lengths while recently earning a 101 Brisnet Speed Rating.  He’s also the first horse trainer Todd Pletcher has entered in a Preakness Stakes since 2011.  He is coming in at 12-1 odds early on.

Stradivari’s jockey John Velazquez won the 2007 Belmont Stakes and 2011 Kentucky Derby.

The Paulick Report calls Stradivari an “intriguing unknown factor” in this year’s Preakness.

Trained by Todd Pletcher, Stradivari will attempt to follow in the footsteps of Bernardini to win the Preakness off just three career starts, the Paulick Report points out.

“I think our record is pretty good with horses coming out of the Derby and having productive campaigns afterwards," said Pletcher, whose lone Derby victory from 45 starters -- second only to his former boss, D. Wayne Lukas -- came with Super Saver in 2010.
