Portugal gets off to a bad qualifying start though losing 1-0 to Albania in Aviero.   That embarrassing loss to a team with the longest odds of winning the Euro 2016 (400-1) resulted in the firing of coach Paulo Bento.

Newly hired manager Fernando Santos helped get Portugal back on its winning ways.

They have qualified for the previous five tournaments and making at least the quarter-finals each time.

They should have little trouble getting past Iceland, Austria and Hungary in their respective group.
