2016 Belmont Stakes Current Weather Forecast: Mudders Alert
*Update 4:30 pm EST - Scattered storms were not expected until after the race but continue to monitor the forecast for more. With scattered thunderstorms in the forecast during the hours prior to the Belmont Stakes and quite possibly during Saturday’s race, many horse bettors are looking towards the potential mudders.
We know of two right off the bat.
Favorite Exaggerator won the Preakness Stakes in the slop and previously the Santa Anita Derby on a muddy track. He finished a strong second on a wet track at this year’s Kentucky Derby.
Cherry Wine at 14-1 odds certainly cannot be overlooked having finished 2nd at the Preakness Stakes two weeks ago.
Brief scattered thunderstorms were anticipated around the 5 pm hour and again around 7 pm. Scattered and isolated thunderstorm possibilities tend to be difficult to forecast accurately.
