“Not because of anything, I don’t want to be treated as important. We should treat ourselves just like any other Filipino traveler,” Mr. Duterte told his Cabinet secretaries at their first meeting in Malacañang.
“I don’t want special treatment. There’s no stopping of activities just because of somebody,” he said in English and Filipino immediately following the decree.
The Philippines is home to a handful of online gambling companies.
Forget the fact that more than one-quarter (25.8%) of the population fell below the poverty line the first semester of 2014, there are bigger priorities apparently.
President Duterte said they plan to set up a national hotline that the public will have access to make complaints directly to his office.
“It will be manned by 10 operators covering the entire country. The number is 8888. They can report to me any complaint and there will be a manager that will redirect their complaint to the proper office,” said the new President. Duterte has vowed to end the proliferation of online gambling in the Philippines, as has expressed real concern about the possible negative aspects that impact lives.“Online gambling must stop…it’s out of control in PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation),” he said.
