CSGOPot Still Operating: Says Cease and Desist From Valve ‘Not Received’

• CSGOPot claims it is yet to receive cease and desist letter from video developer Valve
• ”That’s all fake” CSGOPot claims of tweets suggesting they were contacted by video gaming developer
• CSGOPot: ”We will do everything in our power to keep allowing our power to keep allowing our dedicated and loyal users to gambling”
• Valve accused in lawsuit of deliberately allowing the creation of a market where players and third-parties trade weapon skins like casino chips

Despite a widely circulated Cease and Desist letter from video gaming giant Valve demanding that over two dozen Counter Strike: Global Offensive sites stop engaging in gambling, at least one has gone on the offensive, saying they are yet to receive said letter.

CSGOPot featured this message on its website following news of the Cease and Desist letter:

“!SOME TWEETS CLAIMS THAT, CSGOPOT HAS BEEN CONTACTED BY VALVE. THAT’S ALL FAKE, WE STILL DIDNT RECEIVE ANY E-MAIL FROM VALVE!”

Valve sent out the following notice to suspect sites:

“We are aware that you are operating one of the gambling sites listed below. You are using Steam accounts to conduct this business. Your use of Steam is subject to the terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement (“SSA”). Under the SSA Steam and Steam services are licensed for persona, non-commercial use only. Your commercial use of Steam accounts is unlicensed and in violation of the SSA. You should immediately cease and desist further use of your Steam accounts for any commercial purposes. If you fail to do this within ten (10) days Valve will pursue all available remedies including without limitation terminating your accounts.”

On its Twitter page, CSGOPot issued this statement via a series of continuous tweets:

Due to the recent updates and statements provided by Valve, we will do everything in our power to keep allowing our power to keep allowing our dedicated and loyal users to gambling, as well provide a safe and fun atmosphere for those who are just relaxing and chatting with the other users.  We hope to have your support in the upcoming months, and we hope that we can all stay together and expand as a community together.  Thank you so much for your continued support, we hope you enjoy our site as much as we enjoy expanding it. Valve’s Cease and Desist letter comes at a time following wide condemnation for the firm’s silence on issues that include sites enabling minors to gamble as well as the lack of transparency concerning ownership by key YouTubers. 

Valve is also named in multiple lawsuits, accusing the company of deliberately allowing the creation of a market where players and third-parties trade weapon skins like casino chips.
