Indians Now at 5-1 Odds to Win 2016 World Series: Acquire Brandon Guyer
The Cleveland Indians were now 5-1 odds to win the 2016 World Series with the second shortest odds of doing so after the Chicago Cubs.
The Rays traded outfielder Brandon Guyer to the Indians for two minor-leaguers, outfielder Nathan Luke and righthanded pitcher Jhonleider Salinas.
The acquisition by Cleveland comes less than a day after they announced the signing of top relief pitcher Andrew Miller, traded by the New York Yankees.
Guyer said he had no inkling that he'd be traded. He called it bittersweet to leave the Rays but said he was excited about joining the Indians.
Guyer has the ability toplay all three outfield positions and is hitting .344 (22-for-64) with four doubles, four homers, nine RBI and a 1.082 OPS against lefties.
