The online gambling website DoBet.com has shut down, claiming the domain name has been seized “due to Government regulation”,

The notice makes no mention of which Government seized the domain, though to date only the US Government has opted to seize .com domains.  They have the ability to do so since the only company allowed to issue new .com domains is VeriSign, a U.S. based company.

Furthermore, the US Government places its own unique seal on any seized domains.  It should also be noted that the domain information for the site does not reflect a transfers.

A disclaimer is displayed that new players are not being accepted and that 'deposits are not allowed in your country'.

Sportsbook Review listed a scam alert on Dobet last June after the betting site claimed it was regulated by the Costa Rican government. The betting site primarily targeted the UK market.

It was not immediately clear how many gamblers have been affected by this abrupt closure.
