Kerron Clement was the +150 favorite but Yasmani Copello was a practical co-favorite at 2-1 odds. This is expected to be the most competitive event of the morning in Athletics.
Clement is Trinidadian-born track and field athlete who represents the United States and competes in the 400-meter hurdles and 400-meter sprint.
Clement comes into this event having just won the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 48.40 seconds while finishing nearly a quarter-second ahead of Puerto Rico’s Javier Culson.
“I was patient during the race, and I thank God that I got the win,” Clement said. “I've been working on a strong last few meters all season so I am happy the work has paid off. I need to stay consistent and hold my form heading into the Olympic Games.”
Copello Escobar is a Cuban-born track and field hurdler who represents Turkey internationally. His personal best for the 400 metres hurdles is 48.46 seconds, set in qualifying for the final at the 2015 World Championships.
