After Bama opened at -8.5, this line shot up a point within the first four hours Sunday and, by Tuesday, had peaked at -11.  With a line of -10.5, Alabama was seeing 80 percent of the action.  We believed this line might shoot up to -11.5 just before game time but instead it seemed to be holding on -10.5 and even drifting downward to -10.

Oddsmakers may feel good about an Ole Miss cover.

The Rebels, after all, have had a nice history of upsetting the Tide in recent years, the last two to be more precise.  They have also covered in four of the last six dating back to 2010.

"I think it is a combination of the confidence that has been set through playing them the four years we have been here," Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said, "And playing them early is advantageous."

As an underdog of 10.5 to 21 points, however, Mississippi has only managed the upset win Straight Up five times out of forty since 1992.

Alabama comes into this game as a 9-2 favorite to win the 2017 College Football Championship game while Ole Miss had much longer 50-1 odds of doing so.  The Rebels lost to FSU in Week 1 and have failed to cover the spread in both this season’s games.

The Crimson Tide are 6-1 Against The Spread in their last 7 road games while the Rebels are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.
