Does anyone remember the PlayStation Vita?  Okay, okay so that is a bit cruel but come on for those of you who bought it you have to admit that it’s not turned into the success story that Sony had hoped for, in fact Sony is actually looking into other devices to make their games portable and pocket sized, and it has been widely rumoured that by March 2018, PlayStation will release possibly five games on Android and iOS operating systems.

In March of this year Sony restructured turning Sony Computer Entertainment into Sony Interactive Entertainment and Sony’s ForwardWorks will be responsible for moving PlayStation games over to smartphones.

Sony was reported as saying that ‘ForwardWorks will leverage the intellectual property of the numerous PlayStation dedicated software titles and its gaming characters as well as the knowledge and know-how of gaming development expertise which was acquired over the years with PlayStation business to provide gaming application optimized for smart devices including smartphones to users in japan and Asia.’

At present there does not appear to be any concrete plans to bring the games to the United States or Europe.

Although Sony’s PlayStation remains popular and continues to succeed in the industry the company’s lead over its competition has narrowed somewhat over the last few months and in the last three months or so the PlayStation 4 has actually sold fewer units than the Xbox One in North America, a definite change in the trend.

This move toward Android and iOS devices by Sony joins the trend of moving from the computer or games console over to (but still including the larger devices) the mobile device as it is widely recognised that people want to convenience of being able to play when and where they choose.

You only need take a quick look at the gambling industry to see how many sites like Fruity King mobile slots successfully carry out their business quite happily via mobile devices as well as the computer.  This is mainly due to the increased superiority of the software provided which allows for seamless, enjoyable gaming without the worry of glitches and the game crashing at a decisive moment.

This advancement in technology provides players with an environment that is both safe and secure where their requirements come first and are subsequently provided for in such a manner that there is no need to set up new user accounts or passwords.

Mobile casinos have proven to be incredibly popular with the general public and once the option to play on the go arrived users were able to personalise their mobile devices even more by choosing their favourite sites and taking advantage of some spectacular bonuses and promotional offers especially for the mobile user.

This move by Sony to dedicated smartphone games comes after years of the company’s PlayStation minis program and the anticipation as to what will be released by Sony onto mobile is already beginning.  Just another waiting game we are all going to have to deal with!
