A somber Dave Mason of BetOnline tweeted late Sunday afternoon.

Action pretty even (something I wish I would say on a #Patriots gm) on Packers +3 v Falcons. 54% of $ on ATL

No matter how good a week the books may be having, those dastardly New England Patriots always find a way to spoil the party.

Week 8 was no exception with New England crushing Buffalo in a revenge game 41-25.  They covered with more than 75 percent of those betting the spread for this game backing the Pats.

As if that weren’t bad enough, New England was seeing the second most action of the Week 8 NFL games with the money line.

Bookies had been celebrating big covers (and outright wins) for both South Florida Friday night against Navy and Texas in their upset against Baylor.  While the Bulls failed to cover the opening line and some of the early week action, nearly all the money line bets for that game were on Navy.  Baylor had been the most wagered on side for Week 9 of College Football.

The books took a small hit on the Raiders winning in overtime.

All this could be made up with an Eagles +5 cover Sunday night against Dallas.

Mason said it best with his follow up tweet, speaking on behalf of bookies everywhere.

Fantastic news fellow sportsbook bretheren - the Patriots are on bye next week!
