Why is Xpressbet Asking for My Social Security Number?

You are about ready to finish the signup process on Xpressbet to start wagering on the Kentucky Derby or Breeders Cup and then it happens: The dreaded request for your social security number!

Do you really want to submit your social security company to some betting firm online with all these stories about hacking of late?

We sure wouldn’t!

Gambling911.com endorsed Bookmaker, in business since 1986 and way longer than Xpressbet, operates internationally and therefore does not require the intrusive request for customers to provide their social security number nor do they submit tax information to the IRS (that should be YOUR job).

“No tax forms, no pari-mutuel pools, and bets as low as $1 accepted,” Payton O’Brien of Gambling911.com notes.  “They will never ask you to supply a social security number and with good reason.”

O’Brien went on to explain that a competitor of Xpressbet, TwinSpires, once had its customer database compromised along with all the stored social security numbers.

“It’s a dangerous precedent and we applaud Bookmaker for not requiring such information,” she said.
