2016 Big Ten Championship Betting Odds – Wisconsin vs. Penn State Opening Line

The 2016 Big Ten Championship betting odds were now available with LIVE IN-PLAY WAGERING right up to the final minute of play.  The Wisconsin vs. Penn State opening line was coming in at Badgers -1, quickly going up to -3.  This game will be played in Lucas Stadium in Indianapolis, a city that is relatively easy to get to from much of Southern Wisconsin (a five hour trip from Madison).

What Were the Early Odds to Win the 2016 FBS Championship?

Wisconsin was at 80-1 odds of winning.

Penn State was at 300-1 odds of winning.  They were at 14-1 odds of winning the Big Ten Championship.

Wisconsin vs. Penn State Recent Head to Head History

Few would have thought these two schools would be vying for the 2016 Big Ten Championship but here they are with identical 10-2 Straight Up records and Wisconsin with their 9-2-1 record Against The Spread.  The Nittany Lions own an 8-3-1 record Against The Spread.

PSU has won the last two meetings (2013 and 2012).

Takeaways Heading Into the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game

The Badgers victory did not come easy.  This one was tied in the final minute before Wisconsin scored 14 late points in 27 seconds to finish strong against Minnesota, 31-17.

Against Michigan State, Penn State QB McSorley passed for 384 yards and 4 touchdowns to win 45-13.

The Nittany Lions should be a hot team beyond this season they will only lose just 17 seniors and return many key contributors in 2017 but thinking short term this is a team that entered 2016 battling injuries.  Now nearly fully recovered, they’ve won eight straight coming into the Big Ten Championship.

Wisconsin Badgers Injury Concerns for Big Ten Championship

Left-handed starting quarterback Alex Hornibrook departed after taking a shot to his right shoulder following an incompletion near the sideline late in the second quarter. Hornibrook then fell to the turf, with the back of his helmet slamming hard into the ground.

Backup quarterback Bart Houston played the entire second half and finished 9 of 14 for 123 yards.

Updates on Hornibrook’s condition were not immediately available.
