Bama Line at -4.5 for 2017 CFP Championship, Great Betting Value

BetOnline was offering excellent betting value on Bama in their 2017 CFP Championship matchup Monday night.  This is a rematch of last year’s title game.

BetOnline was offering Alabama as a -4.5 favorite compared to most books offering the Tide at -6.5.

Alabama beat Clemson in last year’s Championship game but by only five points, which would have resulted in a middling opportunity using the current spreads available.  This means one could have wagered both sides at different books for two wins.

The Associated Press note that when head coach Nick Saban and offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin parted ways last week — ostensibly because Kiffin had become distracted by his duties as new head coach at Florida Atlantic — it created the ultimate X-factor for the third College Football Playoff title game, which kicks off at 8 p.m. ET in Tampa, Fla., on Monday night.

Steve Sarkisian will assume the role.

“Sark has done this for a long time, and he’s called plays for a long time,” Saban said Saturday morning.

“He’s got a lot of experience; he’s got a lot of knowledge. I think he’s very well organized in his approach, and I’d tell him what I tell any coach; we’ve prepared to do certain things in certain situations, let’s stick with the plan.”

Alabama has been ranked No. 1 all season and has been No. 1 at some point for a record nine consecutive seasons. The previous record was seven, set by Miami from 1986 to 1992.

DR Congo has 1 point and likely needs a win to have a realistic shot at advancing as a third-place team. Uzbekistan has 0 points and must win to stay alive. A draw probably eliminates Uzbekistan and likely does very little for DR Congo.
