Tensions With the Bulls and Rajon Rondo’s Latest Comments Have Bettors on Alert

Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler have been critical of their younger Bulls teammates and Rajon Rondo’s latest comments do not help cause or the franchise, suggests Andrew Lynch of Fox Sports.

Tensions Mount

Rondo ripped teammates, and in particular Wade and Butler.

Rondo, apparently referring to Garnett and Pierce, repeatedly used the term “my vets” in an Instragram post.

“When we lost, they wouldn’t blame us,” Rondo wrote. “They took responsibility and got in the gym. They showed the young guys what it meant to work. Even in Boston when we had the best record in the league, if we lost a game, you could hear a pin drop on the bus. They showed us the seriousness of the game.”

Rondo also questioned Chicago Coach Fred Hoiberg’s control of the team.

“My vets didn’t have an influence on the coaching staff,” he said. “They couldn’t change the plan because it didn’t work for them. I played under one of the greatest coaches” — the former Celtics coach Doc Rivers, now with the Los Angeles Clippers — “and he held everyone accountable.”

Andrew Lynch of Fox Sports writes:

In reality, the former Celtic/Maverick/King is clearly a peg or two below Wade and Butler in Chicago’s pecking order. Did he have a point about how veterans should handle things? Maybe. But in Rondo’s situation, you have to keep that criticism in-house. He’s a role player who tried to act like he’s still a star, and the consequences should be swift.

Impact on Sports Bettors

Futures bettors had somewhat high hopes for the Bulls entering this season especially with the likes of Wade and Butler on the roster.

As of this writing Chicago is barely a .500 team though they are hardly out of contention in the East where only five teams seem to be excelling: Cleveland, Toronto, Boston, Atlanta and Washington.

More recently, Chicago has only won and covered in four of their last ten games overall.

Sixers? Knicks? Who Can Challenge Boston in the East this Season?

As the new NBA season gets underway, there is most certainly a sense that the Boston Celtics are the team to beat once again. The 18-time champions really took an “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it” policy in the offseason, and it’s hard to argue with the tactic.
